Electrical isolation record versus EIC

The difference between controlling an isolation and certifying electrical installation work.

The short answer

An isolation record shows what was isolated, how the safe state was controlled and how reinstatement was managed. An Electrical Installation Certificate is a specialist certificate for electrical installation work. They are not interchangeable.

A realistic example

Before a ceiling strip-out, a competent person isolates circuit L4-07 and records the isolation. If new electrical installation work is later completed, the appropriate certification is a separate process.

How SiteHQ supports the workflow

SiteHQ’s available isolation workflow records the isolation and reinstatement sequence. EIC, MEIWC and EICR workflows remain separately labelled and gated.
